Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff Shocks PR Team by Calling for National Guard to Patrol San Francisco

Marc Benioff, the billionaire CEO of Salesforce and one of San Francisco’s most prominent liberal figures, has long been known for his philanthropy — funding homeless initiatives, donating to public schools, and supporting Democratic campaigns.

However, during a recent New York Times interview conducted over the phone from his private jet, Benioff appeared to unveil a surprising political shift — one that reportedly caught even his communications team off guard. Despite Salesforce’s numerous federal government contracts, Benioff voiced strong support for former President Donald Trump and said he believes the National Guard should patrol San Francisco’s streets.

The Salesforce founder described his admiration for Trump after meeting him at a Windsor Castle state dinner, saying he expressed gratitude for “everything he’s doing.” Benioff also praised Elon Musk’s approach to government efficiency, adding that he hadn’t been following recent controversies involving immigration raids or Trump’s attacks on the media.

According to the Times report, the 50-minute call ended abruptly when Benioff turned to a visibly startled PR executive, asking, “What about the political questions? Too spicy?” — signaling he realized his remarks might cause internal concern.

While Benioff’s statements reflect a growing political realignment in Silicon Valley, they also highlight how some tech leaders are becoming more open to conservative views once considered off-limits in Bay Area circles. Analysts suggest this could mark a turning point in how technology executives engage with government policies and law enforcement in their home cities.

The question remains: Will other Bay Area tech CEOs echo Benioff’s stance and advocate for federal troops or stronger policing measures in San Francisco? Or will this mark an isolated example of a tech mogul distancing himself from Silicon Valley’s traditional liberal base?
