‘Severance’ Star Zach Cherry and ‘True Detective’s Kali Reis Join ‘Resident Evil’ Reboot Cast

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new names include Zach Cherry (Severance) and former boxing champion, actress Kali Reis (True Detective: Night Country). Cherry is set to play a scientist working at a hospital, while Reis will portray an ex-military veteran.
Joining them is actor and comedian Johnno Wilson, known for playing Dave in Twisted Metal Season 2. They are the first cast members announced since the lead, Austin Abrams (Weapons), was confirmed.

The biggest highlight among the new cast is Zach Cherry, who received an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actor in 2025 for his breakout role as Dylan George in the Peabody Award-winning series, Severance.
The Zach Cregger (Barbarian, Weapons) directed reboot will follow an original story that honors the survival horror feel of the games without using main series characters like Leon Kennedy or Jill Valentine. Cregger stated his intention is to capture the tension of playing the games.
Filming is scheduled to begin this month in Prague. The movie is slated for a theatrical release on September 18, 2026, marking the franchise’s 30th anniversary. This new film will arrive alongside the next major title, the ninth game, Resident Evil Requiem, which is connected to the original PlayStation trilogy.
