Next-Generation Fiat Fastback Spotted Testing in Europe: Here’s Everything We Know

In 2024, Fiat unveiled the next-generation Fastback in concept form, alongside the debut of the Grande Panda, which will soon launch in Brazil.

Fiat’s future lineup: Five new models by 2030

The so-called “new Uno” is among five vehicles Fiat plans to release by the end of the decade. The Fastback, however, has yet to receive any official confirmation from the brand, with its launch expected only in 2027. Until then, Fiat continues testing the SUV coupe — most recently spotted in Europe by Motor.es.

Although the prototype remains heavily camouflaged, the new Fastback reveals a few visual cues reminiscent of the Citroën Basalt, its “cousin” within the Stellantis Group. The only uncovered part during testing was the wheel design, offering a glimpse of its sporty stance.

Shared design DNA with Citroën and the Stellantis family

The similarities between the models are particularly noticeable in the squared-off lines of the bodywork, especially at the front. The vehicle will also be built on the Smart Car platform, already used by cars such as the Citroën C3, Aircross, Peugeot 208, and 2008.

Despite these design parallels, Fiat’s upcoming releases will adopt the brand’s new global design language, introduced by the Grande Panda. This visual identity will define Fiat’s lineup of global launches over the next five years.

Powertrain: Combustion, hybrid, and electric options

Similar to the entry-level hatchback, the next Fastback generation is expected to feature a broader powertrain range, offering combustion, hybrid, and fully electric options.

Currently, the Fiat Fastback sold in Brazil offers a 1.0 turbo engine, a 1.0 turbo MHEV mild hybrid system, and the Abarth performance variant, equipped with a 1.3 turbo engine delivering 185 horsepower.

What to expect next

Fiat should reveal more details about the Fastback’s debut and other upcoming models soon — including vehicles confirmed for the Brazilian market. With the brand’s increasing focus on electrification and global design coherence, the 2027 Fastback could represent one of Fiat’s most ambitious evolutions yet.
